About

Roberto Antelo was Born in Montevideo (Uruguay), since 2004 lives and works in Padua, the city where he approched to photography and has had the opportunity to exhibit his projects in solo and group exhibitions, turning a passion into a constant practice of observation and understanding.

Critiques

"Roberto Antelo's photos are realised by using a slow shuttle Speed, which documents a passage, a presence in space, un unexpected experience. it is an attempt to create images showing the passing from one condition to another, as if people inside the frame were just lightly touching the background -that is the landscape- and crossed it."

Artist's profiles

(Curated by Mario Napoli, critic texts by Elena Colombo, Falvia Motolese and Andrea Rossetti)

"Antelo is a photographer whose technique is impeccable when it comes to the execution of the shot and its printing. Yet, beyond the sheer beauty of his photos, what truly stands out is the subtle melancholy that emerges from his images — a melancholy that is not sorrowful, but rather romantic, evocative of memories that are sometimes long forgotten."

Sandro Serradifalco
(Artistic Director International Mediterranean Art Biennial – March 2017 - Palermo)

"If, on one hand, photography is a document of the immanence of things, on the other, Roberto Antelo’s work seems to reveal what exists and endures beyond our knowledge and awareness, offering us an escape route toward transcendence."

Flavia Motolese
(Art historian / art curator)

"Photography, as Roberto Antelo shows us, is a kind of legacy left to those who observe it, study it, and fall in love with it — a legacy that allows us to experience a place and a time to which we do not belong."

(Art historian & Essayist)
